Panda Pro Am 26" BMX Cruiser - 1981
What seperates the Panda Pro Am from the Panda Pro AM Replica is first the replica is easily identified by the 3 bar or extra brace in the middle of the front triangle. Two they were made of mild steel. Three the replicas were painted where all the Pro AM were chromed. This is a sweet riding bike that holds fond memories and three bikes that led to the inspiration of the madness and this site would be the Panda Pro Am, the OM Flyer and the Torker 26", but definately limited to.
I believe this is possibly my 1981 Panda Pro Am that I raced BITD, found in 2004 halfway across the US in rusted shape. I had it triple show chromed in California, supposedly by the same entity that did GT back then. It was a very nice job. I never saw it before chroming was told it was in pitiful shape. They did do an aggressive job to the rear dropouts polishing out the washer marks, thus removing the serial number. Mine was either number #13 or #18, and I believe this one was #18 if I recall. If anyone holds the other serial number I am very interested in it, as well as leads on the headtube decals. I have a set of downtubes which are rare as hens teeth.
